Spanish solar PPA at €30.93/MWh: what it means for SPV valuations
Spanish solar PPA prices have fallen to €30.93/MWh, according to pv magazine’s report of 29 October.
For an SPV seller, that number is the starting point of the valuation conversation, not the end of it.
Buyers underwrite merchant tail, curtailment and capture price, not the headline PPA figure. A project with a sound permitting trail and a credible storage option can be priced on a different basis from one without.
In a competitive process, the work is to make those differences legible. A clean data room, a design that anticipates storage and documented permits reduce the number of discounts a buyer applies at the non-binding offer stage.
For buyers, a lower PPA reference widens the gap between assets that look similar on paper. Technical due diligence, yield assumptions and permit validity do the sorting.
The same logic travels. In the Gulf and in African markets tariff levels differ, but the sequence is the same: bankable data first, price second.
Our read: when reference prices compress, preparation becomes a larger share of value.
