Iberia’s BESS pipeline tops 11GW as costs firm up
Iberia’s battery storage pipeline just crossed another threshold: over 11 GW of BESS capacity now quoted across the region by a single major supplier, with battery costs still up roughly 8% year-to-date on lithium volatility, per recent market data.
That combination — surging demand and firmer pricing — is exactly the environment where technical rigour on the front end pays for itself.
On the projects we design in-house, storage sizing is no longer bolted onto a solar or wind layout as an afterthought. It’s optimised alongside the resource assessment from day one, whether that’s a co-located hybrid or a standalone asset chasing ancillary-service revenue.
The gap between a bankable BESS project and a good idea usually comes down to three things: a defensible energy yield case, a realistic read on grid and market rules for hybridisation, and a layout that survives technical due diligence without rework.
