A UAE-based developer switched on a 50 MW solar plant paired with 15 MWh of battery storage in the Central African Republic this week, described by the government as the country’s largest infrastructure project to date and a lift of over 60% to national generation capacity.
What stands out from a practitioner’s seat: it went live with storage built in from day one, not added later. On a thin, constrained grid, batteries are what let a project actually be dispatched and paid for, not just permitted and built.

An asset stops being a spreadsheet exercise the moment a buyer, a lender or a co-investor asks how it performs on a weak, curtailment-prone network.
