Selling a renewable portfolio? Run a process, not a phone call.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners completed its €1.44 billion acquisition of Ørsted’s European onshore business this spring — wind, solar and storage assets and a multi-gigawatt development pipeline spanning Ireland, the UK, Germany and Spain, now under new ownership.

Deals like this are not isolated. Across Europe, and Iberia specifically, both utilities and independent developers are treating portfolios as a capital source: divesting seasoned or non-core assets to fund new development rather than holding everything to maturity.

From the sell side, the lesson repeats itself deal after deal: value is found in the process, not the phone call. A single bilateral negotiation rarely tests what the market will actually pay. A structured competitive process — several credible counterparties, a real deadline, terms compared side by side — usually does.

This is the work we do for renewable SPVs and development-stage assets across Portugal, Spain, the UAE and African markets: qualifying the right buyers, sequencing information carefully, and closing when competitive tension is highest.

Capital is clearly chasing operating and near-ready renewable assets right now.
