Applications close in November, and the site-selection variable that keeps coming up isn’t installed capacity — it’s how fast a location can deliver large additional volumes of firm, clean power.
That’s the same question we get asked across every market we work in, from Portugal and Spain to the UAE and Africa: not “can you build the generation,” but “how fast can you get it connected, firm, and bankable.”
It’s why in-house design work — energy yield modelling, layout optimisation, technical due diligence — increasingly sits alongside the commercial side of a deal rather than after it. A gigafactory-scale load, like any large offtaker, needs the generation and storage stack sized and de-risked before the site decision is final, not once construction starts.
